Healthy Aging Lifestyle Programme

Our objective is to improve the physical and mental health and wellbeing of persons over 65 in Athlone town and environs through the provision of structured training and exercise classes and nutrition workshops. The aim is to support older persons in living a happier and healthier lifestyle by promoting physical movement and exercise, education on nutrition, encouraging peer support and the development of friendships.


The aim of the project is to;

  • To improve physical and mental health and well-being of participants.

  • To provide opportunities for physical activity and movement for participants.

  • To provide nutrition workshops to educate participants on eating healthy nutritious foods in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

  • To introduce opportunities for new experience and promote joy in participants.

  • To create a space to cultivate peer supports and friendships through common activities and shared experiences.

  • To decrease loneliness and isolation experienced by members.
